Parking Administration Roles and Responsibilities 

The Traffic & Transportation Division's Parking Administration Section encompasses many varied responsibilities, including but not limited to those listed below;

 
Municipal Parking

 

Parking Garages - Contracted operator -  ABM Parking (Oversight of operator) - See Ramps & Rates (above)

Parking Meters - Planning, programming & oversight of the parking meter maintenance & collection program - See Parking meters (above)

Off-Street Parking - Managing several parking lots and issuance of monthly parking hang-tags

Residential Permit Parking Program - Issuing monthly "A" & "B" Resident Parking Permits

 
Permits and Licenses

 

Traffic & Transportation's Parking Administration Section is also responsible for a varied assortment of licenses & permits such as;

Parking Permits (Special Parking Permits, Off-Street Parking Permits & Residential Parking Permits),

Annual House Moving Company Licenses and individual House Moving Permits (permits are only issued to House Movers with current Annual Licenses in Des Moines),

Small Moving Permits (Single Trip and Annual Oversize),  and 

Taxi, Limousine & Para-Transit Company & Driver Licensing.
