  • Two lanes of Douglas Avenue from 52nd Street to 53rd Street will be closed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, and Wednesday, February 17, 2016. This lane reduction is necessary to replace a damaged power pole on the south side of Douglas Avenue. One lane westbound and one lane eastbound will be maintained during the work.

    STREET CLOSURE

    SE 34th Street will be permanently closed to all traffic at the Union Pacific Railroad tracks between Laurel Hill Road and Scott Avenue beginning Thursday, October 15, 2015. No traffic will be permitted to cross the Union Pacific Railroad tracks after the road is closed. This section of roadway is being closed in conjunction with the SE 34th Street/SE 36th Street Roadway Improvements at the Union Pacific Railroad project.

This section of roadway is currently in the process of being vacated in order to become future Airport property, and due to the structural condition of the bridge over Frink Creek just west of SW 46th Street, immediate closure is necessary.

  • Indianola Avenue between Easter Lake Drive and E Porter Avenue was reopened to traffic this afternoon. The closure was necessary as part of the Indianola Avenue Widening Phase 3 project.

  • Robert D. Ray Drive north of Des Moines Street will be closed beginning at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 for reconstruction and expansion of the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, formerly called the Botanical Center. Access from East 6th Street will no longer be allowed. Access to the Botanical Garden parking lot will remain via Robert D. Ray Drive from Grand Avenue on the south end of the Botanical Garden.
