  • Northbound curb lane of SE 14th Street from East Park Avenue to East Pleasant View Drive
  • Starting: 05/20/2013 09:00 AM 
  • Ending: 05/24/2013 03:00 PM
     
  • The northbound curb lane of SE 14th Street from East Park Avenue to East Pleasant View Drive will be closed to traffic beginning 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained northbound.
    This lane closure is necessary for curb replacement and is expected to be completed by May 24, 2013, weather permitting.
    Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area and obey all construction zone signing.

  • REVISED - Franklin Avenue from 2nd Avenue to Arlington Avenue
  • Starting: 05/20/2013 08:00 AM 
  • Ending: 05/22/2013 05:00 PM
     
  • Franklin Avenue from 2nd Avenue to ARLINGTON AVENUE will be closed on Monday, May 20, 2013, at approximately 8:00 a.m., open only to local traffic, for milling, patching and cleanup.
    On Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at approximately 8:00 a.m., this section of the roadway will be closed to all traffic for construction of an asphalt overlay. The street should be reopened to all traffic by 5:00 p.m.
    In case of inclement weather, the work will be done on the following day or when weather permits.
    Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, should obey all construction zone signing and expect minor delays.

  • In conjunction with Iowa Cubs Fireworks, the following street closures will be implemented on the dates and times as noted:
    Effective Friday, April 12th, Friday, April 19th, and Friday, May 3rd, 2013
    ● Raccoon Street from SE 4th Street to SE 5th Street from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
    ● Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, from SE 4th Street to SW 2nd Street from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
    (Eastbound Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway will be closed briefly during shooting of fireworks)
    Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, should obey all signing, and expect minor delays.

  • This closure is necessary for replacement of the water main. Work is expected to be completed by May 31, 2013, but may be extended in case of weather delays.

  • SE 6th Street between the Des Moines River Bridge and Maury Street

  • This section of roadway will be closed to traffic beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013. The closure is necessary for the installation of a large sewer line along with other pavement repair work. The closure is expected to last for approximately 1 month.
    A detour will be marked using Maury Street, SE 14th Street and Hartford Avenue.

  • This section of roadway will be closed for approximately 2 months. The closure is necessary for sewer work for the WRA New Main Outfall project.

  • SW McKinley Avenue in Des Moines and Browns Woods Drive in West Des Moines at the Intersection of Highway 28

  • SW McKinley Avenue in Des Moines and Browns Woods Drive in West Des Moines will be closed at the Highway 28 intersection beginning Monday, April 1, 2013. The project is anticipated to be complete by Fall of 2013. This closure is necessary for construction of the Southwest Connector Phase III project.
    A detour will be posted using SW 56th Street and Leland Avenue. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area and obey all construction zone signing.

  • The Grand Avenue Bridge over Walnut Creek (East of 63rd Street)

  • This section of roadway will be closed beginning at 9:00 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013 for a bridge replacement project. This closure will be in effect for approximately 7 months.
    Detour routes will be posted along 42nd Street for trucks and 56th Street for regular traffic between Grand Avenue and University Avenue, but traffic is encouraged to find alternate routes, including using I-235. All businesses on Grand Avenue will be open and have vehicular access.

    ● 8th Street from Grand Avenue to High Street, northbound

  • This closure is necessary for bridge rehabilitation and widening for the Easter Lake Drive over Easter Lake Bridge Rehabilitation Project. A detour will be posted using SE 34th Street south of Evergreen west to Indianola Avenue. Easter Lake Drive open between Indianola and SE 32nd Street. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area and obey all construction zone signing.

Ray Drive north of Des Moines Street will be closed beginning at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 for reconstruction and expansion of the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, formerly called the Botanical Center. Access from East 6th Street will no longer be allowed. Access to the Botanical Garden parking lot will remain via Robert D. Ray Drive from Grand Avenue on the south end of the Botanical Garden.
