  • LANE CLOSURE: Cherry from 6th Avenue to 7th Street
  • Starting: 07/13/2015 09:00 AM

  • One lane of Cherry Street from 7th Street to 6th Avenue will be closed daily between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., beginning Monday, July 13, 2015, through Friday, July 24, 2015. This lane closure is necessary for a water valve repair in the intersection of 7th and Cherry.

    Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, obey all construction zone signing and expect minor delays.

  • E Aurora Avenue between E 14th Street and NW 2nd Avenue will be closed beginning Monday, July 6, 2015. The closure is anticipated to last approximately one week. Local traffic will be maintained at all times. This closure is necessary for an asphalt overlay project.

    A detour will be posted using NE 14th Street, NE 46th Avenue/E Broadway Avenue, and NW 2nd Avenue.

    from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.—westbound only
    (Eastbound Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway will be closed briefly during shooting of fireworks)

  • The southbound lane of E 33rd Street between Easton Boulevard and E Washington Avenue will be closed between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. beginning Wednesday, July 1, 2015, through Friday, July 10, 2015. This lane reduction is necessary for curb replacement.

    In case of inclement weather, the work will be rescheduled the following day or when weather permits.

  • One eastbound lane of Douglas Avenue from 50th Street to 52nd Street will be closed daily between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., beginning Tuesday, June 30, 2015, through Friday, July 10, 2015. This lane closure is necessary for drive approach and curb construction.

  • One northbound lane of 8th Street from Locust Street to Grand Avenue will be closed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily, beginning Monday, June 29, 2015, through Friday, July 10, 2015. This lane reduction is necessary for fiber optic utility work.

  • Lanes will be reduced on E 14th Street from Morton Avenue to Boyd Street between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. beginning Monday, June 29, 2015, through Friday, July 10, 2015. At least one lane in each direction will be open at all times. This lane reduction is necessary for skywalk construction at Grand View University.

  • Park Avenue from SW 28th Street to Fleur Drive

  • Park Avenue from SW 28th Street to Fleur Drive is closed for water main replacement. This section of Park Avenue is anticipated to be closed through August 2015.

    A detour is signed for George Flagg Parkway to Fleur Drive. An alternate detour using SW 42nd Street, McKinley Avenue, and Fleur Drive will be posted in the event George Flagg Parkway is closed due to flooding.

  • LANE CLOSURE: SW 9th Street from Titus Avenue to Kenyon Avenue
  • Starting: 03/23/2015 09:00 AM 
  • Ending: 10/23/2015 06:00 PM
     
  • SW 9th Street between Titus Avenue and Kenyon Avenue will be reduced to one-lane traffic in each direction beginning Monday, March 23, 2015, for approximately 7 months. This restriction is necessary for the City’s contractor to begin the widening project on SW 9th Street in this area.

  • McKinley Avenue between SW 46th Street and SW 56th Street
  • Starting: 12/22/2014 12:00 AM
     
  • McKinley Avenue between SW 46th Street and SW 56th Street is permanently closed to all traffic. This section of roadway is currently in the process of being vacated in order to become future Airport property, and due to the structural condition of the bridge over Frink Creek just west of SW 46th Street, immediate closure is necessary.

  • Indianola Ave. between Easter Lake Dr. and E Porter Ave. Reopened
  • Starting: 11/21/2014 03:00 PM
     
  • Indianola Avenue between Easter Lake Drive and E Porter Avenue was reopened to traffic this afternoon. The closure was necessary as part of the Indianola Avenue Widening Phase 3 project.

  • Robert D. Ray Drive north of Des Moines Street
  • Starting: 03/26/2013 07:00 AM
     
  • Robert D. Ray Drive north of Des Moines Street will be closed beginning at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 for reconstruction and expansion of the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, formerly called the Botanical Center. Access from East 6th Street will no longer be allowed. Access to the Botanical Garden parking lot will remain via Robert D. Ray Drive from Grand Avenue on the south end of the Botanical Garden. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, obey all construction zone signing and expect delays.
