  • STREET CLOSURE-E Walnut Street from E 14th Street to E 15th Street
  • Starting: 09/10/2015 08:00 AM 
  • Ending: 09/10/2015 05:00 PM
     

  • E Walnut Street from E 14th Street to E 15th Street will be open to local traffic only starting at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, for milling, patching and clean up.

    On Thursday, September 10, 2015, starting at 8:00 a.m. this section of roadway will be closed to all traffic until 5:00 p.m. for resurfacing as part of the 2015 Asphalt Overlay Program.

    In case of inclement weather, the work will be done on the following day or when weather permits.

    Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area and obey all construction zone signing.

  • Ending: 09/18/2015 04:00 PM
     
  • 12th Street from Seneca Avenue to Madison Avenue will be closed between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2015, through Friday, September 18, 2015. During this time the street will be open to local traffic only. This closure is necessary for curb replacement.

    In case of inclement weather, the work will be rescheduled the following day or when weather permits.

    Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area and obey all construction zone signing.

    A detour will be posted using Watson Powell Jr Way, 5th Avenue, and Grand Avenue. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area and obey all construction zone signing.

These lane closures are necessary for median island repair.

    A detour will be posted using SE 18th Street, Dean Avenue, and SE 30th Street. Maury Street will be open to local traffic west of the closure.

  • Guthrie Avenue from Dixon Street to Delaware Avenue will be closed beginning at 7:00 AM on Monday, August 24, 2015, through Sunday, November 1, 2015. This closure is necessary for bridge repair work on the Guthrie Avenue bridge.

    A detour will be posted using Dixon Street, E Euclid Avenue, and Delaware Avenue during the closure.

  • SW 9th Street between Titus Avenue and Kenyon Avenue will be reduced to one-lane traffic in each direction beginning Monday, March 23, 2015, for approximately 7 months. This restriction is necessary for the City’s contractor to begin the widening project on SW 9th Street in this area.

  • McKinley Avenue between SW 46th Street and SW 56th Street is permanently closed to all traffic. This section of roadway is currently in the process of being vacated in order to become future Airport property, and due to the structural condition of the bridge over Frink Creek just west of SW 46th Street, immediate closure is necessary.

  • Starting: 11/21/2014 03:00 PM
     
  • Indianola Avenue between Easter Lake Drive and E Porter Avenue was reopened to traffic this afternoon. The closure was necessary as part of the Indianola Avenue Widening Phase 3 project.

  • Robert D. Ray Drive north of Des Moines Street will be closed beginning at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 for reconstruction and expansion of the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, formerly called the Botanical Center. Access from East 6th Street will no longer be allowed. Access to the Botanical Garden parking lot will remain via Robert D. Ray Drive from Grand Avenue on the south end of the Botanical Garden. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, obey all construction zone signing and expect delays.
