  • East Watrous Avenue between SE 34th Street and SE 40th Street
  • Starting: 05/22/2012 08:00 AM 
  • Ending: 06/12/2012 06:00 PM
     
  • This section of the roadway will be closed beginning Tuesday, May 22, 2012 for approximately 3 weeks. This closure is necessary for storm sewer work.
    Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area and obey all construction zone signing.
    In case of inclement weather, work will be done on the following day or when weather permits.

  • Saylor Road just south of Guthrie Avenue
  • Starting: 05/18/2012 09:00 AM 
  • Ending: 05/18/2012 04:00 PM
     
  • This area of roadway will be closed for maintenance work on the levee gate closure system across the roadway.
    A detour will be posted using Guthrie Avenue, East 9th Street and Thompson Avenue. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area and obey all warning signs.

  • CLOSURE DELAYED - Grand Avenue Bridge over Walnut Creek (East of 63rd Street)
  • Starting: 05/11/2012 12:00 AM 
  • Ending: 05/18/2012 12:00 AM
     
  • The Grand Avenue Bridge closing at Walnut Creek (East of 63rd Street) is being DELAYED until the Spring of 2013. The bridge will not close on May 14th but will instead remain open to traffic. Over the next few months, there will be lane closures in this area of Grand Avenue for utility relocation work, but the full bridge closure will not occur until 2013.

  • SE 6th from Court Avenue to East Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway
  • Starting: 05/08/2012 09:00 AM 
  • Ending: 08/08/2012 06:00 PM
     
  • This closure is necessary for the SE 6th Street Widening project, and is expected to last for approximately 3 months.
    A detour will be marked using East Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, SE 4th Street and Court Avenue.

  • East Grand Avenue from East 22nd Street to East 23rd Street

  • This closure is necessary for sewer repair and is expected to be completed in two weeks, weather permitting.

  • LANE REDUCTION: 6th Avenue Bridge over the Des Moines River

  • The 6th Avenue Bridge over the Des Moines River will be reduced to one-lane traffic in each direction beginning at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 for bridge rehabilitation work. This lane reduction is expected to be in effect until November 2012. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area and obey all construction zone signing.

  • REVISED Lane Reduction: SW 9th Street @ Murphy Street
  • Starting: 04/18/2012 09:00 AM

  • SW 9th Street at Murphy Street (south of the downtown viaduct) will be reduced to one lane traffic beginning at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 for approximately 6 weeks. This lane reduction is necessary for storm sewer construction.

    Murphy Street between SW 9th Street and SW 11th Street will be closed during this same time period.

  • Hartford Avenue from SE 22nd Street east to the Cownie Soccer complex entrance

  • In conjunction with several major soccer events at the Cownie Soccer Complex, Hartford Avenue from SE 22nd Street east to the Cownie Soccer complex entrance will be closed to through traffic from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the following dates:

    Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 11 to 13, 2012
    Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20, 2012
    Saturday, Sunday and Monday, May 26 to 28, 2012
    Sunday, June 3, 2012
    Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17, 2012

  • Beaver Avenue from Aurora Avenue to Meredith Drive

  • This section of road will be closed to through traffic beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012. The closure will be in effect until fall 2012, and is necessary for the Beaver Avenue Construction project, which will reconstruct the roadway to a 3-lane facility. The project is expected to be built over the next two construction seasons.
    A detour will be posted using Meredith Drive, Merle Hay Road, and Aurora Avenue. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, obey all construction zone signing and expect minor delays.

    A detour will be posted using East McKinley Avenue and SE 14th Street.
