  • E 14th Street from Morton Avenue to Boyd Street will be closed between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, and Thursday, May 7, 2015. This closure is necessary for skywalk construction at Grand View University.

    A detour will be posted using I-235 and E Euclid Avenue.

    Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area and obey all construction zone signing.

    6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    Grand Avenue from 6th Avenue to 10th Street
    Locust Street from 13th Street to 6th Avenue
    6th Avenue from Locust Street to Grand Avenue

  • Cornell Street from Madison Avenue to Aurora Avenue will be closed to traffic beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015. The closure is necessary to repair a water main break. The street will be reopened to traffic by 7:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015.

    A detour will be signed using 2nd Avenue via Madison Avenue and Aurora Avenue.

  • In conjunction with Iowa Cubs Fireworks, the following street closures will be implemented on the dates and times as noted:

    Effective Friday, April 17 and 24, 2015

    Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway from SE 4th Street to
    SW 2nd Street (westbound only) from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
    (Eastbound Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway will be closed briefly during shooting of fireworks)

  • Lanes will reduced on 41st Street from Forest Avenue to Beaver Avenue between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily beginning Friday, April 17, 2015. This closure is necessary for manhole modifications. This work is anticipated to be completed by Friday, April 24, 2015.

    Flaggers will be present to alternate motorists through the open travel lane.

  • The northbound curb lane of E 14th Street between Cleveland Avenue and E Washington Avenue will be closed beginning Thursday, April 16, 2015, through Friday, April 17, 2015. This lane closure is necessary for tree removal at 1415 E 14th Street.

  • Lanes will be reduced on 56th Street between Ingersoll Avenue and I-235 beginning Wednesday, April 15, 2015, through Tuesday, April 28, 2015, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. each day. This lane reduction is necessary for manhole adjustment.

  • Beaver Avenue from Urbandale Avenue to 100 feet South of Urbandale (Ace Hardware Driveway)
  • Starting: 04/06/2015 09:00 AM 
  • Ending: 04/17/2015 04:00 PM
     
  • Beaver Avenue from Urbandale Avenue to 100 feet south of Urbandale (Ace Hardware Driveway) will be closed to traffic beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015. The closure is necessary to construct a storm sewer in conjunction with the Beaver Avenue Streetscape project. The street will be reopened to traffic by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015. Urbandale Avenue will remain open. Access to all businesses will be maintained.

    A detour will be signed using Hickman Road, Merle Hay Road, and Douglas Avenue

  • Park Avenue from SW 28th Street to SW 33rd Street will be closed beginning Monday, April 6, 2015, through Thursday, April 30, 2015. This closure is necessary to replace a water main.

    A detour is signed for George Flagg Parkway to Fleur Drive.

  • LANE CLOSURE: SW 9th Street from Titus Avenue to Kenyon Avenue
  • Starting: 03/23/2015 09:00 AM 
  • Ending: 10/23/2015 06:00 PM
     
  • SW 9th Street between Titus Avenue and Kenyon Avenue will be reduced to one-lane traffic in each direction beginning Monday, March 23, 2015, for approximately 7 months. This restriction is necessary for the City’s contractor to begin the widening project on SW 9th Street in this area.

  • Starting: 12/22/2014 12:00 AM
     
  • McKinley Avenue between SW 46th Street and SW 56th Street is permanently closed to all traffic. This section of roadway is currently in the process of being vacated in order to become future Airport property, and due to the structural condition of the bridge over Frink Creek just west of SW 46th Street, immediate closure is necessary.

  • Indianola Ave. between Easter Lake Dr. and E Porter Ave. Reopened
  • Starting: 11/21/2014 03:00 PM
     
  • Indianola Avenue between Easter Lake Drive and E Porter Avenue was reopened to traffic this afternoon. The closure was necessary as part of the Indianola Avenue Widening Phase 3 project.

  • Robert D. Ray Drive north of Des Moines Street will be closed beginning at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 for reconstruction and expansion of the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, formerly called the Botanical Center. Access from East 6th Street will no longer be allowed. Access to the Botanical Garden parking lot will remain via Robert D. Ray Drive from Grand Avenue on the south end of the Botanical Garden. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area, obey all construction zone signing and expect delays.
