Des Moines Fire Department
The Des Moines Fire Department is a customer focused state of the art provider of fire protection, emergency medical and related services. We’re proud of our distinguished history of protecting our community and our tradition of service is strong. We won’t rest on our laurels however; our sights are set on continually enhancing our capabilities. Our personnel are skilled, dedicated, caring, and courageous. We work in a challenging environment, and we meet the challenge every day – teaching fire safe behaviors to children, inspecting commercial properties, managing a natural, technological, or intentional calamity affecting our entire community, or treating an individual who happens to be visiting – and we meet it very well.
Des Moines Fire Stations
The Des Moines Fire Department currently has 10 stations located throughout the city to serve the citizens of Des Moines. For a scalable image map of where any one of our ten fire stations are locations click on the map.

Fire Station One is located at 1330 Mulberry Street. It serves the main downtown area.
Fire Station Two is located at 1727 E Walnut Street. Fire Station Two serves a large area of the east side of the city.
Fire Station Three is located at 2458 Easton Blvd. Fire Station Three serves the east and northeast areas of the city.
Fire Station Four is located at 917 University Avenue. Fire Station Four serves the central and north-central areas of the city.
Fire Station Five is located at 711 Forty-Second Street. Fire Station Five serves the central and west central areas of the city.
Fire Station Six is located at 1919 SE 6th Street. Fire Station Six serves the south central and southeast areas of the city. Station Six is the home of the Water Emergency Team (WET).
Fire Station Seven is located at 3500 East 12th Street. Fire Station Seven serves the north area of the city.
Fire Station Eight is located at 1249 McKinley Ave. Fire Station Eight serves the southern area of the city,
Fire Station Nine is located at 4800 Douglas Ave. Fire Station Nine serves the north and northwest areas of the city.
Fire Station Ten is located at 5900 E Indianola. Fire Station Ten serves the south and southeast areas of the city.
