About the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program:
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is designed to assist low-income families meet the cost of home heating. This program is not intended to pay a household’s total energy costs, but to pay a portion of residential heating costs for eligible households. Benefits will be in the form of a one time credit applied to your heating bill by your utility company. All persons applying for this program will simultaneously be making application for Weatherization Assistance with Polk County.
LIHEAP FY14 closed on April 30, 2014. We were able to serve 6138 households this season.
LIHEAP FY15 begins on November 1, 2014 (October 1st for seniors, disabled or households in crisis).
During the off-season (April 30-October 31) if you are facing disconnection, are currently without services or need to have a back bill paid before you can obtain utility services for your secured new residence, please call (515) 248-6216 to learn about the Assessment and Resolution program.
