The Civil Service Commission of the City of Des Moines is a special tribunal created under the authority of the Code of Iowa, Chapter 400, Civil Service. The purpose of the Commission is to provide an efficient and equitable public service, which protects the interests of the citizens of Des Moines, the City of Des Moines and its employees. Commissioners are to govern the appointment, promotion, transfer, dismissal, discipline and other related conditions of employment on the basis of merit, in accordance with the spirit of the Code of Iowa, Chapter 400.    More
