    The Mayor's Annual Ride and Run will be held on April 18, with all proceeds benefiting the restoration of the Jackson Street Bridge. The run starts at 8 a.m. with the ride following at 10 am.   • Barney Blast Registration Ends March 8

    Des Moines Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the inaugural Blarney Blast tournament to be held March 14-15 at the Greater Des Moines Softball Complex. Registration ends March 8 for the double elimination men’s and coed tournament and it will cost each team $105 to participate.

    For those 15 and up, this three day class will train participants in the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Class will be held at Lincoln High School 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $100 per person.

    This recreational adult coed league begins play in ay with game times from 6:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. each Wednesday. Coed teams field ten players (5 men/5 women) ages 18 and over and play a 7-game schedule, one game a week, at the Greater Des Moines Softball Complex (4980 NE 46th Street).

Grandview wading poolTraditional Wading Pool Program

 

The City of Des Moines wading pools are located throughout the City and offer supervised water play specifically aimed at children ages 10 and under. It is a great opportunity for children to meet other children, have fun, and build water confidence. Parental supervision is strongly encouraged.

 

Traditional Wading Pool Rentals

 

Traditional wading pools may be rented from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays during the regular wading pool season. Fees are $25 per hour with a 3-hour minimum at the following traditional wading pools: Ashfield (3200 - 38th St), Bates (330 Clark St), Burke (601 E University), Chesterfield (2719 Scott Ave) Drake (2300 Drake Park Ave), Grandview (2410 E 33rd St), Greenwood (4500 Grand Ave), Jordan (600 East Wall Ave), Sayers (1300 Linden Lane), Sheridan (4000 Hull Aven), Stone (2100 SE 5th St) and Tower (4900 Hickman Rd). Water Play Season for Traditional Wading Pools, Splash Pads and Water Features within Des Moines Parks

 

There are currently twelve traditional wading pools, four splash pads and five water features operating in parks across the City of Des Moines.  Our water play season opens the first full week in June, on Monday, and closes in mid-August of each year.  The days and hours of operation vary by facility.
