About Pioneer Columbus
Pioneer Columbus Community Recreation Center hosts a number of recreation programs, weddings, receptions, birthday parties, funerals, showers and meetings throughout the year. Pioneer Columbus Community Recreation Center serves as a congregate meal site for seniors and spouses ages 60 and over. In addition the Community Recreation Center doubles as an emergency shelter site whenever a Polk County Emergency Management event is triggered.
The Recreation Office is located in the lower level of the Community Recreation Center and offers a number of spring, summer, fall and winter programs. Please click on appropriate link below for current recreational activities and programs being offered.
Pee-wee sports are geared for children ages 3 to 6 to promote awareness of others and socialization. Team sports include soccer, basketball, and wiffleball. Soccer is offered in the spring and fall. Five to six week basketball programs are offered in January and February.
General rule of thumb for pee-wee sports registration; registration begins 4 weeks prior to the program and ends 10 days prior to program start date; practice game and pictures occur during the first week; game weeks occur during weeks 2 and 4; contests during weeks 5 and 6.
Sports Registration Schedule
There isn't any limit to the number of children that can participate but a parent or guardian must be in attendance. Registration and shirt costs can be found on the registration form. There are scholarships available that off the regular price by 50%. Scholarship applications and approvals are handled through the Community Services division of Community Development.

The Community Recreation Center is not open on recognized City holidays. The Community Recreation Center offers drop-in recreation weekdays only. Hours of operation vary by season so be sure to view current activities and programs being offered to the various age groups below.
Pioneer Columbus Community Recreation Center offers drop in recreation for adults year round.
Drop-in recreation is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m - 7:45 p.m.
The facility is open to youth and teens after school hours beginning at 2:30 p.m. or when school is not in session beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Drop-in recreation is free to seniors over the age of 60 and youth under the age of 17.
For adults ages 18 to 59 there is a $1.00 fee per visit or you may purchase an adult monthly pass for $12.00 per month.
The Community Recreation Center offers a computer lab with internet access for use by the community. No sign-up for lab use is required.
Computer lab hours are 8:00 a.m. - 7:45 p.m.
The computer lab is restricted to youth 14 or older and/or those accompanied by their parent unless a special activity or program is planned for a certain age level . Please plan your visit to the computer lab based on scheduled activities and program offering below.
Pioneer Columbus has several spaces available for rent. You must be at least 18 years of age to rent the facility. The black-out dates and times for rental are the Community Recreation Center's regular hours of operation. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed. The first price listed indicates our rental fee during operating hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.). The second price listed indicates our rental fee during non-operating hours. (Weekends, Holidays, After Hours ending at 10 pm)
Multi-Purpose Room: Seats 75 people. Rental includes a kitchen which has a refrigerator, stove, microwave, large coffee pot, and counter space. Fee: $35 or $60 per hour
Conference Room A: Seats 20 people. Room includes one large table and a counter space. Fee: $15 or $35 per hour
Conference Room B: Seats 15 people. Room includes several small tables. Fee: $15 or $35 per hour
East Gym: Max Capacity 135. Wood-floor gym with large curtain that can split the gym in half. Volleyball posts and nets can be provided upon request for two full courts. Fee: $35 or $65 per hour
West Gym: Max Capacity 100. Has four basketball hoops. Volleyball posts and nets can be provided upon request for one full court. Fee: $35 or $65 per hour
