• Yoga in the Park

    Enjoy your Saturday morning by participating in a free weekly yoga session at Grays Lake this summer. The class will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. every Saturday May 25 through September 28. Local volunteer teachers lead each session, which means you’ll have a different yoga experience each week! Come join the fun and relax with us!

    Free Flicks is a summer-long series of outdoor movie showings throughout Des Moines area parks and facilities.

The Des Moines Park and Recreation Softball Complex is located at 4980 NE 46th Street.  it opened July 1, 2004, and is home to Des Moines Park and Recreation Softball Leagues for Men's Fast-pitch, Men's Slow-pitch and Coed Slow-pitch teams as well as High School Girls' Spring Leagues.  In addition, many District and National Tournaments have enjoyed great success while enjoying state-of-the-art amenities at this beautiful complex such as: four lighted fields, individual public announcement systems, four scoreboards, irrigation system for all fields, press box, full concessions, clean restrooms, concrete walkways, paved parking for 250 vehicles, landscaped grounds, and more.  For more information on Des Moines park and Recreation League Sports or rental of the Des Moines Park and Recreation Softball Complex, please email us or call (515) 237-1386.

James Cownie Baseball Park is an eight-field baseball complex located in Des Moines.  Cownie Baseball Park located at 2501 SE 22nd Street hosts a Little League season, USSSA tournaments and a wide variety of other baseball events.  In all, Cownie Baseball holds over 1700 events per year.   For more information on rental of this facility please email us or call (515) 237-1386.

The Cownie Soccer Complex located at 2600 East Hartford opened in the Spring of 1998.  Over 85,000 participants have utilized the park since its inception with many more to come.  The soccer park has much to offer including: field lighting of 30 to 50-foot-candles, split face block bleachers with seating to accommodate 2,000 spectators including 300 individual seats in filed # 9 and 750 spectators in field # 6, press box with video platform, scoreboard, fencing with admission gates, family seating area behind south goal, MidAmerican Energy Stadium and "Play It Safe Plaza", enhanced entrance to concession with asphalt stamped 70" diameter soccer balls and landscaping, and much more. The USYSA National Championships were held in this beautiful soccer complex in the summer of 2006.   For more information on rental of the complex please email us or call (515) 237-1386.
