The Four Mile Community Center serves as a congregate meal site for seniors and spouses ages 60 and over. In addition the Community Center doubles as an emergency shelter site whenever a Polk County Emergency Management event is triggered. The Community Center hosts a number of Camp Fire, AA, and neighborhood meetings throughout the year.
The Leisure Sports office is located within the Community Center and offers a number of spring, summer, fall and winter league and leisure sports activities. Hours of Operation
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Open gym hours are Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The Community Center is not open on recognized City holidays. The community center offers drop-in recreation weekdays only. Hours of operation vary by season so be sure to view current activities and programs being offered to the various age groups below.
The Four Mile Community Center offers drop in recreation with a senior emphasis from 7:00 - 11:00 AM and youth and adult emphasis from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Drop-in recreation is free to seniors over the age of 55 and youth under the age of 17. For adults ages 18 to 55 there is a $ 1.00 fee per visit or you may purchase an adult monthly pass for $ 12.00 per month.
The Four Mile Community Center offers a computer lab of six computers with internet access for use by the community. No sign-up for lab use is required. Computer lab hours are geared toward senior use from 9:00 - 10:00 AM, but general hours of operation are 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. The computer lab is restricted to youth 16 or older and accompanied by their parent unless a special activity or program is planned for a certain age level. Please plan your visit to the computer lab based on scheduled activities and program offerings below.
Pee-wee sports are geared for children ages 3 to 6 to promote awareness of others and socialization. Team sports include soccer, basketball, and wiffle ball. Soccer is offered in the fall only. Five to six week basketball programs are offered in January and February.
General rule of thumb for pee-wee sports registration; registration begins 4 weeks prior to the program and ends 10 days prior to program start date; practice game and pictures occur during the first week; game weeks occur during weeks 2 and 4; contests during weeks 5 and 6.
There isn't any limit to the number of children that can participate but a parent or guardian must be in attendance. Registration and shirt costs can be found on the registration form. There are scholarships available that discount the regular price by 50%. Scholarship applications and approvals are handled through the Community Services division of Community Development.
Four Mile Community Center has a multi-purpose room with kitchen which accommodates a maximum party size of 75 people. It rents for $30 per hour with a 2 hour minimum during operating hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday); rent is $60 per hour with a 2 hour minimum during non-operating hours (after 5 p.m. on Friday and all hours on Saturday and Sunday). You must be at least 18 years of age to rent the facility. The black-out dates and times for rental are the Community Center's regular hours of operation. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.
