4500 Grand Avenue

Located in heavily-wooded Ashworth Park, east of 45th Street and south of Grand, are the Bill Riley Recreational Trail trailhead/parking, an open-air shelter with picnic tables, playground, wading pool, Ashworth Memorial Pool, tennis and basketball courts and several picnic areas for family and social gatherings.

Greenwood Park, stretching from 45th Street to 48th Street, south of Grand offers Sylvan Theater, Clair and Miles Mills Rose Garden, an enclosed shelter and the Mary Miss Greenwood Pond Double Site outdoor classroom. It is also home to the Des Moines Art Center and several outdoor works of art.
