Patrons must sign in when entering the facility.  Once each year patrons must fill out a Participant Information Form.  The Pioneer Columbus community center is not responsible for any lost or stolen items including money in vending machines.

Remodel Update:

Pioneer Columbus Community Center currently being remodeled.  Please enter at the south entrance the upper parking lot only. 

The weight room, cardio equipment and game tables will be closed during remodel.  Anticipated completion is September.

Youth, adult and senior offerings are for all ages unless otherwise specified. If you do not find a list of activities or programs below the headings there are no offerings for the group at this time.  

 


 

Taekwondo

Day(s): Mondays & Thursdays

 

Time: Monday and Thursday - 6:00 - 7:00 for PeeWee 7:00 - 8:00pm (7years+)

 

Fees: $50 monthly

 

Ages: All ages 

 

Try Taekwondo, Aerobic Training, Practical System of Self-Defense, Self Esteem and Confidence builder.

This class provides: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, Indomitable Spirit

PeeWee program - ages 5 to 6 years

 


 

Pickleball

Day(s): Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

 

Time: 8:00am - Noon

 

Fees: $2.00 per person

Weight Room & Cardio Area

Time: 2:00 - 4:45 p.m.

 

Fees: FREE - Youth 14 to 17 who are staff approved & adults ages 60+

Ages 18 - 59: $1.00 per day or $12.00 per month

 

Ages: Ages 18+ (Ages 14 to 17 ONLY with staff approval) 

 

Keep fit and increase your strength with a daily workout in a comfortable atmosphere. Treadmills, cycles, various exercise apparatuses and weight bench with complete set of weights are at your command.

 

Youth Activities and Programs

Imagination Playschool

 

November 2015 - March 2016

Day(s): Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday

 

Time: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

 

Fees: Cost is $2.50 daily to attend "New Season" & Imagination Playschool

 

Ages: Children 7 and under

CLOSED for SPRING Break March 14-18

Looking to inspire your little ones imagination and get them moving? Join us at Pioneer Columbus Community Center for the “Imagination Playschool”.

Imagination Playschool allows kids 7 and under the chance to make new friends and play on all kinds of equipment: climbing tower, imagination playground, big wheels, play houses, tumbling mats, gymnastics (Thursdays) and a bounce house (Fridays).

New only in November 2015 -Stay tuned for 2016 dates-
“Story Time”- Starting November 5, on Thursdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m., kids four and under are invited for stories, songs, rhymes and dance. Cost is $2.50 and Imagination Playschool is included.

“Creativity Coach” Starting November 5, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., you and your child can dance and have guided play on the equipment and dance. Cost is $2.50 and Imagination Playschool cost included.

 


Youth Community Recreation

Ages: School-Aged Children, ages 12 and over 

 

Scheduled recreational activities – dodge ball, basketball contests, traverse wall climbing challenges, Boot Camp, EFR - Employee Family Resources programs, Jr Police Fitness Training, Police programming and pizza parties. Call 248-6316 for details on programs

NBA (Noon Basketball Association)

Time: Courts OPEN 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Monday, Friday and 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

 

Fees: $1.00 per day or $12.00 per month

 

Ages: All Adults 

 

Pick-up basketball and challenge matches offer players an opportunity to shoot hoops with Des Moines' BEST.

 


Adult Computer Lab

Senior Activities and Programs

Polk County Congregate Meals

 

Except Holidays

Day(s): Monday through Friday

 

Time: Meals Served at 11:30 AM

 

Fees: Donations Welcome

 

Seniors enjoy bingo, billiards, cards and crafts, as well as a nutritious lunch served at 11:30 a.m. by Polk County Congregate Meals Coordinator, Ray Ann Scione. Please call Ray @ 288-3734 between 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. weekdays to make meal reservations at least 24 hours in advance.

A transportation application is available for those who need transportation to and from the meal site. The form can be completed on-site or over the phone. Group transportation is done on a route and timing varies by site.

Polk County Congregate Meals also provides educational speakers and healthcare services like blood pressure checks and foot care clinics.

Holiday parties, great entertainment and friendly people are here for enjoyment.
