10th & Locust Streets

Western Gateway Park is located on 13 acres from 10th Street to 15th Street between Grand and Locust.  The park is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. daily.  It incorporates a concept of a mix of green space and buildings, private and public spaces, and old and new.  It includes the following buildings:  Central Library, Pappajohn Higher Education Center, Arlington-Hallet Apartments, and the Temple for the Performing Arts. 

Western Gateway Park is a joint effort of the City of Des Moines and the business community and serves as a catalyst for redevelopment in downtown Des Moines.  This park is in the heart of the new mixed-use district and is a memorable entry into downtown as well as an attraction for the entire community.
