Transfer Station Requirements
User Requirements
  • Residents of Des Moines only:  Proof of residency is required:  Photo ID or current utility bill.
  • No commercial haulers.  Commercial haulers MUST use landfill.
Vehicle Requirements
  • Cars, pickups and small trailers are preferred
  • Large trailers MUST be sponsored by neighborhoods

SCRUB Events are very popular.
It is common to experience wait times of 30 to 45 minutes to off load your vehicle.
Unloading Procedure - Tips to reduce wait times.
  • Do not park directly in the center of the bay, ask where to unload
  • Once assigned to a door, move over to the right of left to allow another vehicle to pull in and off load.  (Having two vehicles per door will shorten wait times).
  • Plan to unload your own vehicle within 15 minutes. Bring additional help to assist you if needed.
  • Make sure your vehicle has plenty of gas.  Disabled vehicles create delays.
