Housing Appeals Board

• Description

  Holds hearings, grants variances, mediates appeals, and recommends enforcement action in the administration of Housing Code Enforcement.

• General Requirements

  Seven members: one Iowa licensed realtor; one Iowa-registered architect or structural engineer; two contractors experienced in construction and remodeling; three representatives of the general public, one of whom has demonstrated interest in historic preservation. If City Council by resolution finds that no suitable person with the required qualifications is available to fill a vacancy that has been vacant for at least two months, it may appoint a representative of the general public to fill vacancy (this member appointed may not be reappointed unless City Council finds no suitable person with required qualifications is available for appointment).
