  • What:

    Des Moines Parks and Recreation is excited to offer Coed Outdoor Pee Wee Soccer for the spring of 2017. Games will played at the James W. Cownie Soccer Complex (2600 Hartford Avenue.) Two age divisions available:

    3/4 year old division plays Tuesdays beginning April 18 from 6-8 p.m
    5/6 year old division plays Thursdays beginning April 20 from 6-8 p.m.

    Cost to register is $40 per individual and includes a jersey.

    Des Moines Parks and Recreation offers COED KICKBALL leagues for players 18 and over. A 7-game schedule is played at the Greater Des Moines Softball Complex (4980 NE 46th Street) on Wednesday evenings between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

  • WSI - Water Safety Instructor Course Registration
  • When:

    Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 12:00:00 PM

  • What:

    If you are at least 16 years old and a proficient swimmer, you can become an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. This course is approximately 32-hours in length and will help you teach skills that may save a life, gain terrific work experience as an aquatics professional, earn money or join a volunteer team while you help people learn valuable skills.

    In addition you will learn organizational and presentation skills that will help you in any career and make a difference in people's lives. Whether you want to splash around with kids and teach them to swim, help children and adults refine their strokes or teach diving safety techniques, you can do it as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.

    Two class sessions will be available.

    March 13-17 at North High School Pool - 501 Holcomb Avenue
    June 1-6 at Birdland Swimming Pool - 300 Holcomb Avenue

  • What:

    Participants are trained in knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Must have the ability to swim 300 yards. Participants are expected to have classroom and in water participation every day.

    Two sessions available.
