--- Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department is teaming up with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Fellowship Baptist Church (1503 SE 6th Street) on Saturday, February 13th to host “Bald Eagle Day” on the SE 6th Street Bridge. Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. there will be spotting scopes and people on the bridge to assist with viewing wild bald eagles and their nest located along the Des Moines River Trail. Inside the adjacent Fellowship Baptist Church, participants can enjoy presentations by Urbandale author, Ty Smedes at 10:30 and 12:30. Wildlife rehabilitation organization, Saving Our Avian Resources (SOAR) will present at 11:30 and 1:30 with a live education ambassador bald eagle and another guest education ambassador. SOAR will also be discussing the current hazards that bald eagles face in today’s environment and the steps taken when eagles are brought into wildlife rehabilitation.All ages are welcome and there will be children’s activities. Greater Des Moines Sofrball Complex
Enjoy healthy recreation and get a 'kick' from revisiting a long time favorite game from your past in our Adult Kickball League. This recreational adult coed league begins play the first part of May with game times from 6:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. each Wednesday. Coed teams field ten players (5 men/5 women) ages 18 and over and play a 7-game schedule, one game a week, at the Greater Des Moines Softball Complex (4980 NE 46th Street).

Imagination Playschool allows kids 7 and under the chance to make new friends and play on all kinds of equipment: climbing tower, imagination playground, big wheels, play houses, tumbling mats, gymnastics (Thursdays) and a bounce house (Fridays). Program meets Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. New in 2015“Story Time”- Starting November 5, on Thursdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m., kids four and under are invited for stories, songs, rhymes and dance. Cost is $2.50 and Imagination Playschool is included.“Creativity Coach” Starting November 5, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., you and your child can dance and have guided play on the equipment and dance. Cost is $2.50 and Imagination Playschool cost included.
