Youth/Teen Camps are available for various age groups and include age-appropriate activities designed to teach terminology and sailing skills. Classes cover topics ranging from rigging a boat, knot tying, stopping and starting a boat, leaving and returning to the beach or dock, tacking and jibing, capsize and overboard recovery. All classes are taught by a certified US Sailing Instructor and a Certificate of Completion will be awarded at the end of this class, which enables a student to rent a small boat and feel confident to sail on their own. Cost is $225 which includes workbook, boat rental and lifejacket. Registration deadline for each session is 1 week prior to start date. After registering, students will be directed to complete additional medical and emergency forms by visiting the Sailing School's website at: www.sycss.org. Youth/Teen classes will be grouped according to age and ability.
