    Wanting to play America's past time during the Winter, but can't because of the weather? Well, the City of Des Moines Park and Recreation Department is offering an ADULT INDOOR WIFFLE BALL LEAGUE for you and a few of your close friends. Beginning Sunday, January 5, 2014, both recreational and competitive leagues will begin an 8-week schedule of doubleheader games played at Pioneer-Columbus Community Center (2100 SE 5th Street) with an end-of-season tournament the last week. Team registration is $25.00 with a limit of 6 participants per team; individual registration is $5.00 with the player assigned to a team. Participants must be 16 or over. All skill levels are welcome; both competitive and recreational leagues are available.

  • What:

    This program focuses on enhancing your little ones confidence, balance and eye hand coordination. Participants learn how to be a better listener, improve motor skills and concentration. Children with the aid of their adult companion learn together. It’s for anyone 3 years and older that would benefit from developing better balance, rhythm, muscle coordination, social interaction, listening skills, patience and learning with new friends. Parents, grandparents, siblings, guardians are invited to bring their child to learn with others. Participants will use the following equipment balance beam, climbing wall, parachutes, tumbling mats, agility equipment, Imagination playground equipment (extra large sized tinker toys coated foam shapes), nerf balls, etc. Banana Splits offers a great opportunity for developing your little ones life skills, in a fun and safe environment. Together you and your child will participate in structured 15 minute intervals of learning. You will see improvements in self confidence, patience, listening skills and coordination. Parents, grandparents, Home schooled, babysitters, day cares, etc bring their children to “Banana Splits". The last Thursday of the month participate in making your own Banana Split treat at noon. Participants must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Cost is $2.50 per child
