Four Mile Community Center and Pioneer Columbus Community Center
This program introduces children to team sports, teammates and game situations while learning the basics of basketball in a fun atmosphere. Each team has a parent coach and will play against a different team one night per week for six weeks. All equipment, including a personal team shirt, will be provided. This is a fantastic way for your child to have other children enter their world.

This 21st annual 12" slow-pitch softball tournament is a double elimination tournament until the championship game for both coed and men's divisions. Games will be played at several City of Des Moines league softball fieldsEntries are limited!

Pioneer Columbus Community Center
Wanting to play America's past time during the Winter, but can't because of the weather? Well, the City of Des Moines Park and Recreation Department is offering an ADULT INDOOR WIFFLE BALL LEAGUE for you and a few of your close friends. Beginning Sunday, January 5, 2014, both recreational and competitive leagues will begin an 8-week schedule of doubleheader games played at Pioneer-Columbus Community Center (2100 SE 5th Street) with an end-of-season tournament the last week. Team registration is $25.00 with a limit of 6 participants per team; individual registration is $5.00 with the player assigned to a team. Participants must be 16 or over. All skill levels are welcome; both competitive and recreational leagues are available.

Council Chambers of City Hall (400 Robert D. Ray Drive)
At an upcoming public hearing, the Des Moines Park and Recreation board will consider naming a new playground planned adjacent to the Principal Riverwalk, “Rotary Riverwalk Park.” At this time, the board will also consider naming the Union Park East Shelter, the “Bill and Nellie Richie Shelter” and the Union Park West Shelter the “Margaret Swanson Shelter.” Persons interested in the proposed naming will be given an opportunity to express their views at the hearing to be held in the Council Chambers of City Hall (400 Robert D. Ray Drive) on Monday, December 16 at 5 p.m.
