Chris Johansen,  Assistant City Manager

Chris Johansen is the Assistant City Manager and also serves as the Housing Services Director, a liaison to city departments, and responsible for federal appropriation requests. Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Wartburg College and a Masters of Public Administration degree from Drake University. He started with the City of Des Moines in 1998 as a Management Intern to the City Manager. Since then, Chris has served as a Management Analyst in the Finance Department, Deputy Housing Services Director, and the Housing Services Director. In September 2008 he was named Assistant City Manager.
