WORKSTATION
OVERVIEW
The IT department supports over 1,200
workstations in approximately 50 different
building locations through out the City.
Support is provided for all hardware,
software, printers and related equipment.
Microsoft products are our standard desktop
applications. New PC's are installed
with Windows 2000/XP and Microsoft Office
products. For additional information,

HELP
DESK OVERVIEW
User Support Technicians at the City's
IT Help Desk provide answers to employee
computer questions and requests for service.
Each request for service is logged onto
HEAT, our Customer Response software providing
necessary information and tracking for
the request. Approximately 800 requests
for service are logged each month.
The IT Help Desk staff is available for
support during working hours Monday through
Friday from 7:00 A.M. to 5 P.M.

TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW
The City's Graphic Information System
incorporates geographic data and
various databases with mapping software
to produce highly accurate computerized
maps of Des Moines. GIS technology
provides users with fast and easy access
to vital information and allows users
to visualize and simplify complex data,
analyze and plan in a cost effective manner,
and perform design and assessment studies
