The Des Moines City Council set a goal to proactively communicate information about services and policies to all citizens. The city administration works to inform citizens and increase their understanding of how to participate in the public processes. Our objective with the City Source: Your Direct Link to City Hall newsletter is to provide residents with information about government operations and services along with resources where they can get more information, such as our website.
City Source is a quarterly newsletter for Des Moines residents. It was created by the Public Information Office in the City Manager's Office for the City of Des Moines government. It is a two-color, eight-page publication that is mailed to every household in the city, approximately 83, 000 copies. An electronic version is posted on the city’s website along with links for each story that carry the viewer to city department web pages that contain information related to the story or applications or details about the subject that were not printed in the newsletter.
The City of Des Moines Public Information Office (PIO) is responsible for the newsletter.
