PARTNERS
IN PARKS
|
What
is Partners in Parks?
A grassroots,
hands-on citywide program to facilitate
community pride and support for
safe, clean, beautiful parklands.
Areas available for adoption include
parks and open spaces, athletic
fields, boulevards, median islands,
and trails.

What
Can You Do To Help?
As
a Partners in Parks volunteer, you
will share responsibilities with
the City by caring for parkland.
We need people to combine resources
of time, talent, and treasure in
order to make a positive difference.
Volunteerism in the parks will be
tailored to suit you, from one day
clean up to ongoing regular maintenance.
Businesses
and individuals may participate
in the Partners in Parks program
through adopting a park (one year
commitment), financial contribution,
in-kind donations, or an organized
work day. Any contributions
to the Des Moines Park Foundation
will help leverage further investments
in parks.
|
| What
is Provided to Volunteers?
Parklands
to adopt are available on a first-come,
first-serve basis. We will
assist those who do not have a preference
in making a selection. Bags
for trash and various manual tools
will be available to volunteers.
AmeriCorps
will provide Safety Training in
coordination with City staff and
other volunteer groups. After
a one year commitment, a sign will
be provided recognizing your groups'
hard work and effort. It will
be displayed at your adopted Parkland.
