LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM The City of Des Moines Park and Recreation Department will be conducting swimming lessons at Ashworth and Birdland Pools, and Nahas, Northwest and Teachout Aquatic Centers. Children must be five years of age to enroll. Schedule for Swimming Lesson Program Swimming lessons are two weeks per session, Monday through Thursday. Each lesson lasts 35 minutes. Fee: $30.00 - scholarships are available. Contact the City of Des Moines Community Service office near you to apply for a Park and Recreation Scholarship Card. Scholarship cards will allow 50% reduction in fees. Session 1 has some openings still available. Register the morning of lessons at the pools. June 30 - July 10 Session 2 July 14 - July 25 Session 3 Added Nahas Family Aquatic Center 1101 Porter Avenue July 28 - August 7 Classes will be Monday through Thursday each week. Registration for this additional session will be held Saturday, July 26 at Nahas Family Aquatic Center from 10 am to 12 noon. This session is being offered at the Nahas Family Aquatic Center only.
