Youth and Adult Leisure Sports

Des Moines Parks and Recreation offers competitive, recreational, and leisure leagues for youth, men, women, and coed teams. Anyone can form a team from work, church, social group, or neighborhood. Individuals who are not on teams are encouraged to call the Leisure Sports office and place your name on our player-referral list, which is made available to teams needing players.

  • Softball Leagues / Men's Fastpitch, Men's & Women's Slowpitch & Coed Slowpitch
    • Summer - Play mid-May thru August; Registration in mid-March / 14 and 7 Game Schedules
    • Fall - Play late-August thru mid-October; Registration in mid-July / 7 Game Schedule Only
  • Flag Football Leagues / Men's & Women's*
  • Indoor Volleyball Leagues / Coed
  • Basketball Leagues / Men's & Women's*
    • Play late-November to early-February; Register in October / 10 Game Schedule

Youth Basketball Leagues / Boys & Girls

(Individual and Team Registration)

Play a 12-game schedule from mid-November thru February with registration open mid-September thru late October.

3rd and 4th Grade
5th and 6th Grade
7th and 8th Grade

Girls
1st and 2nd Grade

7th and 8th Grade


High School Girls Spring Softball Leagues

(Current grades 9-12) Play a minimum 14-game doubleheader schedule on Saturdays AND Sundays, April into early-May, ending before the high school practices start; Register February to mid-March.
