    Ages 5 to 7 only
McCollum/Waveland Tennis Complex, 936 Polk Blvd.

Sessions for beginners to learn how to play (Cost: $32 per child).
QuickStart Tennis is a new format to help kids seven and under learn and play the game. This modified format includes the following:

    1) Racquet - Kids’ racquet (no, a six-year-old cannot play with that wooden racquet sitting in the garage) – appropriate size 19” (age 5) and 21” (ages 6 & 7). Tennis racquets are available to purchase the first day of each session for $13.00, while supplies last. See the QuickStart tennis instructor to purchase. Review the racquet chart on the back of this brochure.

    2) Court – the court dimensions are 36’ long and 18’wide, with children playing across the width of a normal tennis court, with a portable mini net.

    3) Ball – a foam ball (a ball better suited to their unique playing ability) is used. It moves slower, bounces lower, is larger and two-color tone for better tracking and travels less distance.

    4) Scoring – the first to score seven points wins the game, the first to win two games wins the match. The longest a match will last is approximately 20 minutes.

Parents are encouraged to volunteer to help during these sessions as score keepers, coaches, or court assistants. Mark your child’s registration form if you’re interested in helping out.
