SAFETY

From left to
right the people depicted are: Phil Koundakjian,
Mike Hall, Bob Brokofsky, Rod Biondi, Mike
Raymond (chair), and Robert Fontanini.
The
WRF’s safety committee began in 1984. It
is a joint labor-management committee that
has the support of the administration and
employees alike. Each WRF team is represented
on the committee. The committee identifies
risks, suggests solutions, helps formulate
safety policies, and promotes safety at
the team level. With the introduction of
a new management system, the safety committee
took on some old problems with a renewed
vigor. The sign depicted behind the committee
indicates the number of days the hard working
and dedicated people of the WRF have worked
without a lost-time accident. They have
achieved new records while staff has been
reduced through attrition. Staff has been
accomplishing more with fewer people. Their
efforts have produced significant savings
for our customers. This reflects the caliber
and determination of the people who work
at the Wastewater Reclamation Facility.
The WRF Safety Committee has been at the
forefront of this effort.
