District Fire Chief - Training and Safety
District Fire Chief Dale Bunting joined the Des Moines Fire Department
on November 22, 1982. Originally assigned to 3rd Division - Station
5, he quickly earned his paramedic credentials. He was promoted to Engineer
in July 1990; Fire Lieutenant in January 1994; and Fire Captain in August
1996.
Chief
Bunting was promoted to District Fire Chief in May of 1999 and assumed
command of the department's Training Division. In that capacity, he
is responsible for the Recruit Fire Academy, the development and delivery
of company training programs, the administration of department research
and development efforts, and coordination of training related to emergency
medical and technical rescue services.
Chief
Bunting holds an Associate's Degree in Fire Science, has attended the
National Fire Academy, and is a member of Region 7 TRADE.
