Welcome to the Administrative Services Bureau web page. This Bureau is comprised of ten (10) sworn police personnel and sixty-nine (69) full time non-sworn employees. These individuals provide a multitude of support related services for the Police Department, the City of Des Moines and the citizens we serve.
- Those services include:
- Police and fire / emergency and non-emergency / call taking and dispatching
- Computer entry and dissemination of report information
- Management of found or confiscated property and evidence
- Management of state of the art computer networks and information systems
The Bureau is also comprised of sixteen (16) part-time employees assigned to the Police Report Unit. These employees are retired police officers who obtain case report information from the public by phone. The Police Report Unit is currently responsible for making approximately 16% of the case investigation reports generated by the police department.
The Bureau is commanded by a Major. The Major is supported by a Captain, a Lieutenant, a Communications Section Administrator, a Records Management System Administrator, a Police Property Manager and seven (7) Sergeants.
