Police Report Unit
The Police Report Unit (PRU) is comprised of retired police officers who make reports related to minor crimes and offenses by phone or in person at the police station. This assists full time officers in tending to more serious offenses on the street in a timely manner. The Unit is currently responsible for making approximately 16% of the case investigation reports generated by the police department. PRU personnel will make reports for such offenses as theft, criminal mischief, missing persons, and other crimes as determined by staff.
PRU is staffed from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm Tuesday and Thursday and from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays. PRU personnel do not work Sundays or Holidays. PRU can be contacted directly at: 515-283-4771 or 515-283-4772. Citizens who call the police department non-emergency phone number 515-283-4811 may also be referred to PRU.
