Public Fingerprinting - Des Moines Police Department



Des Moines Police Department public fingerprinting information:

  • Hours are Monday – Friday from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm daily (except federal holidays).
  • The agency or person requesting you be fingerprinted should supply you with cards; we provide no cards for this service.
  • Cost is $10 per card, paid by cash or check only. No credit or debit cards are accepted.
  • You must bring a valid, non-expired government-issued picture ID with you; we will not fingerprint anyone without proper ID.
  • This service is provided first-come, first-served; no appointments are taken. Rarely is the wait more than five minutes.

Fingerprinting is done in the Identification Section, located on the second floor of the Des Moines Police Department. Please call (515) 283-4804 with questions.
