Campfire - Ages 5-12
Children meet with volunteer leaders to explore, be creative, learn about community service and gain a sense of belonging while having fun. Contact 274-1501 for more information.
Days: Mondays
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Cost: 1 time $10 registration fee
Dates: September through May

Tae Kwon Do – Ages 5 and up, and Adults
Learn the ancient art of self-defense, increase flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, and self-discipline. Register with the instructor at any of the classes. Call Vorhees Tae Kwon Do at (515) 263-9299 for more information. Family discounts are available
Days: Monday and Thursdays year round
Time: 5:30 - 6:30 PM (Advanced class Mondays 7:00 - 8:00 PM)
Cost: $35 per month

Youth Recreation – Ages 18 and under
The Pioneer-Columbus Community Center recreation facility features two full-size gyms, a remodeled weight room, cardiovascular equipment, ping-pong tables, foosball table, pool tables, air hockey table and much more. Children nine years and under must have adult supervision to use the weight room. Youth are not allowed in the Center while school is in session.
Days: Monday through Friday
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Cost: Free

Indoor Preschool Park – Ages 5 and under
Share the fun as we turn one of our gymnasiums into an indoor park. Children will have fun riding on big wheels, playing on fun mats, and crawling through our play tunnel! Adult supervision is required.
Dates: Nov. 2, 2009 – mid-April 2010 (depends on weather)
Days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Cost: $1.50 per child per visit

Pee Wee Basketball Registration
Come spend one evening a week learning the basics of basketball in a fun, recreational atmosphere. Volunteer parent coaches will lead participants and their team in practice sessions and scrimmages against other teams. All needed equipment, including a shirt for scrimmages will be provided.
Days: Tuesday (ages 3-4) and Thursday (ages 5-6)
Time: 6:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. (alternating)
Cost: $40 per child
Practice begins: Week of January 19, 2010

Pee Wee Soccer
Help your child learn the basics of soccer in a fun, recreational atmosphere. Volunteer parent coaches will lead participants in practice sessions with their team and scrimmages against other teams. Des Moines Park and Recreation Department will provide all the needed equipment, including a shirt for scrimmages. Registration deadline is September 18,2 009.
