METROPOLITAN APPROACH TO HOMELAND SECURITY UPDATE

to the Des Moines City Council at their budget workshop
November 8, 2005 Presentation to the
Metropolitan Advisory Council (MAC)
December 13, 2005 Follow-up presentation
with MAC. Motion was made at this meeting to have the Polk Co. city managers
meet similar to the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) process.
January 11, 2006 Rick Clark met with
the Polk Co. City Managers including:

NEXT STEPS:
- Request that MAC form
a subcommittee to convene a meeting with City Managers and Police Chiefs
to review Homeland Security and initiate a process similar to the RTA
approach.
- City Managers and
Police Chiefs will analyze the proposal and identify possible approaches
to the organizational structure and funding.
- Report back to the MAC
subcommittee for their consideration.
