ITEM ____ OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER CITY OF DES MOINES, IOWA SYNOPSIS - Agreement for Professional Services between the City and Ames Environmental, Inc. (Dave Lester, President, P.O. Box 661, 410 Main Street, Slater, Iowa) for annual asbestos abatement services-investigation, testing, design services, and abatement services. FISCAL IMPACT - Compensation to the consultant for work covered by the Agreement shall be at hourly rates and reimbursement costs not to exceed $80,000. RECOMMENDATION - Approval of Agreement with Ames Environmental, Inc. BACKGROUND - The Engineering Department is desirous of obtaining professional services in connection with investigation, testing, design services, and abatement services for asbestos abatement services for future asbestos abatement work associated with the demolition of structures effective during the term commencing July 1, 2000 and ending June 30, 2001. Staff has negotiated an annual agreement with Ames Environmental, Inc. to provide these asbestos-related services at hourly rates for this future work which will be identified during the period ending June 30, 2001, and include work on various projects authorized by the City Council and the Airport Board.
