SUBJECT—
Selection of McGladrey & Pullen, LLP as the city’s independent auditor and directing the negotiation and execution of a contract.
SYNOPSIS—
Selection of McGladrey & Pullen, LLP as the city’s independent auditor and directing the negotiation and execution of a contract for fiscal years ending June 30, 2004, 2005 and 2006, with the option of two one-year renewal.
FISCAL IMPACT—
The base contract price for the annual audit will be $82,000. Additional work may be done as requested, including the preparation of Parity Certificates at the quoted price of $1,250, and special services, as needed, to be negotiated by the Finance Director.

BACKGROUND—
The Finance Department, in conjunction with the Airport, Municipal Housing, and WRA staff, issued a Request for Proposals in March 2004. Three firms responded with written proposals, which were evaluated by members of the affected departments. While all three firms submitting proposals were considered qualified, McGladrey & Pullen was judged to be the most qualified in terms of experience and expertise, and they offered the most competitive price.
McGladrey & Pullen has been the city’s auditors for the past four years, and have performed well. Their assistance in the change to the GASB34 reporting model was key.
