Iowa Department of Transportation Agreement for University Avenue Resurfacing from 6th Avenue to the Des Moines River Bridge.
The Iowa Department of Transportation has drafted an agreement between the City of Des Moines and the Iowa DOT for University Avenue Resurfacing from 6th Avenue to the Des Moines River Bridge. The $450,000 project cost includes repair and resurfacing. The City will contribute a local match for the project.
Total City funding is estimated to be $271,670.
The construction costs are eligible for 80% reimbursement by Iowa DOT Surface Transportation Program (STP) Funds, up to a maximum of $178,330. The City of Des Moines will provide matching funding for construction, design and construction administration services. .
Funding for this project is available in the Capital Improvements Program Budget, Account 543060, Fund CP038, Organization ENG990000, Project STR222 – Rehabilitation and Preservation of Major Roadways.
Approval
On October 21, 2002, by Roll Call Number 02-2561, the City Council authorized the City Manager to submit an application to Iowa DOT for STP funds for resurfacing University Avenue from 6th Avenue to the Des Moines River Bridge. This funding request was subsequently approved, and Iowa DOT has prepared an agreement for the proposed improvement, which consists of repair and preparation of the existing roadway and resurfacing with hot mix asphalt. This project will be constructed in the summer of 2008.
