BACKGROUND—

The City of Des Moines Municipal Housing Agency may adopt a Designated Housing Allocation Plan identifying units for occupancy by elderly and near elderly families pursuant to Federal Regulations.  The City Council approved submission of a Designated Housing Allocation Plan designating East View Manor, Southview Manor, Highland Park, and Oak Park Manors as housing for occupancy by elderly and near elderly persons to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on January 8, 2001.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development approved this plan on March 9, 2001 for a period of 5 years.

The City of Des Moines Municipal Housing Agency is submitting a request to HUD to extend this Designated Housing Allocation Plan for an additional two years.
