AGENDA HEADING:

 

Ordering construction of the following:  Warren County Roadway Improvements - Phase 2 - Receiving bids, (6-6-06), and Setting date of hearing, (6-19-06).  (Construction Estimate - $88,000).

 

 

SYNOPSIS:

 

Recommend the City Council proceed with construction of Phase 2 of the Warren County Roadway Improvements.  The City Council previously approved a Chapter 28E Agreement with the City of Norwalk and Warren County for interim roadway improvements over a three-year period on unpaved, gravel streets located within multiple jurisdictions.  This project is the second phase of the 28E Agreement work and includes seal coating the following roadways to provide a dust-free surface on the existing grade: 80th Avenue north of Beardsley Street, 85th Avenue from Beardsley Street to Blue Street, and Blue Street from 85th Avenue to 95th Avenue.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

 

The Engineering Department has prepared plans, specifications, form of contract documents, and City Engineer’s estimate for the construction of the Warren County Roadway Improvements - Phase 2, 06-2006-007.  The improvements include placing asphalt millings, seal coat, and other incidental items; in accordance with the contract documents including Plans File Nos. 462-083/085, on 80th Avenue from Beardsley Street north to the end of the road, on Fleur Drive (85th Avenue) from Beardsley Street south to Blue Street, and on Blue Street from Fleur Drive (85th Avenue) east to R63 (95th Avenue).

 

The estimated construction cost is $88,000.  The proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract documents are available for public inspection in the City Engineer's Office.

 

The 28E Agreement represented a good partnership effort between the cities, the County and the private sector for construction of interim maintenance improvements to unpaved roadways in recently annexed areas of Warren County.  The improvement will be completed over a three-year period.  The Phase 1 construction contract work was accepted by the City Council on November 21, 2005.
