AGENDA HEADING:
Approving
and authorizing the execution of Iowa Department of Transportation Agreement
for E. 29th Street and Hubbell Avenue Traffic Signal Upgrade.
SYNOPSIS:
Approval
of the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) Agreement No. 2007-TS-012 for
Traffic Safety Improvement Program project funding for E. 29th
Street and Hubbell Avenue Traffic Signal Upgrade. IDOT funds in the amount of $140,000 are available for the
construction costs. The City’s portion
of the project, consisting of the design, inspection, and construction
administration costs, is estimated to be $20,000.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
In July of 2005, City Council authorized that an application be submitted to the IDOT for E. 29th Street and Hubbell Avenue Traffic Signal Upgrade. The IDOT has approved $140,000 for this project. The remaining costs, including design, inspection, and construction administration, are to be funded by the City. The total City cost is estimated to be $20,000.
This
project provides for the upgrading of the existing traffic signals at this
intersection. The existing traffic
signal poles will be removed and new foundations and signal poles will be
installed outside the 10-foot clear zone.
New mast arms with overhead signals and back plates will be
installed. Left-turn phasing for
Hubbell Avenue traffic and pedestrian signals will also be included.
