AGENDA HEADING:
Approving
Professional Services Agreement with Shuck-Britson, Inc. for evaluation,
design, and construction phase services for replacement of the Scott Avenue
Bridge over Leetown Creekway not to exceed $84,481.
SYNOPSIS:
Approval of the Professional
Services Agreement with Shuck-Britson, Inc., Timothy A. Monson, President, 2409
Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa, 50312, for evaluation, design, and construction
phase services for replacement of the Scott Avenue Bridge over Leetown Creekway
for an amount not to exceed
$84,481. The existing bridge,
constructed in 1961, has deteriorated to the point that replacement is
required. In addition, the consultant
will evaluate the hydraulic requirements of the replacement structure over
Leetown Creekway.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The
replacement of the Scott Avenue Bridge over Leetown Creekway was identified as
a high priority project in the 2005 City-Wide Bridge and Structure
Evaluation. An RFP for these
professional services was sent to seven consultants and posted on the City’s
web site. Five proposals were received
in response to the RFP. A selection
committee composed of representatives from the Public Works, Traffic &
Transportation, and Engineering Departments rated the proposals. Shuck-Britson, Inc. was the unanimous
selection of the committee based on their qualifications, defined approach to
this project, and established performance with the City.
