AGENDA HEADING:
Approving dissolution
of the Greater South Side Neighborhood Association and removal from the City of
SYNOPSIS:
Recommend approval to dissolve the Greater South
Side Neighborhood Association and to remove it from the City of
FISCAL IMPACT: NONE
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
On
May 24, 1993, by Roll Call No. 93-2026, the City Council approved the
Neighborhood Recognition Policy. This
policy sets guidelines for the formal recognition of neighborhood associations
by the City of
Neighborhood organizations
must meet the requirements of the Neighborhood Recognition Policy to achieve
and maintain recognition by the City of
Fifty of the
fifty-one Recognized Neighborhoods responded to the survey. No response was received from the Greater
South Side Neighborhood Association.
Staff has been in contact with former officers of the group who indicate
that they are no longer interested in being a Recognized Neighborhood. In accordance with the Neighborhood
Recognition Policy, the NRB voted on May 2, 2007, to forward a recommendation
to City Council that the City of
