AGENDA HEADING:

Approving Change Order No. 5 with Cramer & Associates, Inc. for additional work on the University Avenue Bridge over the Des Moines River – Arch Rehabilitation for a total not to exceed $55,456.49.

SYNOPSIS:

Recommend approval of Change Order No. 5 in an amount not to exceed $55,456.49 with Cramer & Associates, Inc., Robert Cramer, President/CAO, 5600 Brookside Drive, Grimes, Iowa, 50111, for additional work on the University Avenue Bridge over the Des Moines River – Arch Rehabilitation to provide additional arch removal and repair, dowels, and structural concrete.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The University Avenue Bridge over the Des Moines River – Arch Rehabilitation project was designed to restore the structural integrity to the bridge substructure. During construction, the amount of deterioration on the arches was found to be more than estimated during the design of the project. This final change order adjusts the estimated quantities for arch removal and repair, dowels, and concrete repair to final as-built quantities for final out. This project was bid using the Iowa DOT specification, which requires field measurements of bridge repair items, because these quantities must be determined during removal operations. The $55,456.49 cost of this change order adjusts final contract quantities to as-built quantities for final out. The City will receive $1 million of Federal Bridge Rehabilitation funds for this project.
