Approval of Conveyance of 3633/3635 E. 42nd Street to John M. Miller.

 

 

SYNOPSIS:

 

Recommend approval to sell Des Moines Municipal Housing Agency disposition property to John M. Miller.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

Amount:  $121,100

 

Funding Source:  2007-08 Operating Budget, Housing Services Department, Public Housing, pg. 173, SP350 HSG02000

 

The proceeds from the sale will be used accordingly:

  • Affordable Housing Endowment Fund (75%)
  • Physical Improvements to existing Manors (25%)   

 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

 

On August 19, 2003, the Housing Services Department received approval for its application to dispose of 394 public housing units at fair market value via public bid.  According to federal regulations, sales can be negotiated with a specific buyer when there is a commensurate public benefit.

 

This property was offered for sale pursuant to the public bid procedures approved by the Municipal Housing Governing Board on October 6, 2003, by Roll Call 03-2267.  The purchaser has not been the title holder or owner of a real estate interest in the City of Des Moines that the Housing Advisory Board has recommended for prosecution as a “Habitual Violator” pursuant to Municipal Code Chapter 26 (rental code violations) or been declared a “Public Nuisance” by resolution of the City Council.
