AGENDA HEADING:
2007 Project Safe Neighborhoods Anti-Gang Initiative
Grant Award
SYNOPSIS:
Recommend approval of the awarded Project Safe
Neighborhood Anti-Gang Initiative Grant through the U.S. Attorney’s Office for
the Southern District of Iowa to support new and expanded anti-gang prevention
and enforcement efforts.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This
program is being administered through the State of Iowa Office of Drug Control
Policy for the U.S. Department of Justice.
The grant is for a three-year
period from 10-01-2007 through 09-30-2010.
The
Police Department will use this funding for a police supervisor and for officer
overtime working in the Homes of Oakridge complex for increased police presence
to address gang activity and related crimes.
The funds will also be used for overtime in expanded gang prevention and
enforcement efforts city-wide.
