AGENDA HEADING:
Approval
for submission of an application for 59 Section 8 Housing vouchers to the
United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
SYNOPSIS:
Recommend approval to submit an application for 59 Section 8 Housing vouchers to HUD and authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute and implement the funding if awarded.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The Des Moines
Municipal Housing Agency (DMMHA) has received funding from HUD since March 25,
1969, for Section 8 rental assistance programs.
On November 5,
2007, by Roll Call 07-2097, the Municipal Housing Governing Board approved
submittal of an application for 57 Section 8 Housing vouchers. Since then, HUD has notified DMMHA that we
are eligible to receive 59 Section 8 vouchers, which would be needed to provide
rental assistance to eligible residents at River Hills II,
The vouchers
will entitle DMMHA to HUD funding in the approximate amount of $306,564.
