AGENDA HEADING:

 

Approving Agreement with the U.S. Department of the Interior, Geological Survey (USGS) for the operation and maintenance of six river and stream gauging stations.

 

 

SYNOPSIS:

 

Recommend approval of the Joint Funding Agreement for 2007/2008 between the U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Department of the Interior, and the City of Des Moines, which provides for operation and maintenance of six (6) river and stream gauging stations. The Joint Funding Agreement is provided for in a 28E Agreement (Roll Call No. 96-2001) between the City of Des Moines, the City of West Des Moines, and the Des Moines Water Works.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

Amount: The total cost for the period from October 1, 2007, to September 30, 2008, is $81,600.

 

Funding Source:  The funding distribution is as follows: 

City of Des Moines - $36,720

City of West Des Moines - $13,600

Des Moines Water Works - $9,520

USGS - $21,760

 

The City of Des Moines’ share is provided in the FY08 Operating Budget, Flood Early Warning System Maintenance Fund; PWK077010, page 315

 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 

 

The Joint Funding Agreement is provided for in a 28E Agreement (Roll Call No. 96-2001, dated May 28, 1996) between the City of Des Moines, the City of West Des Moines, and the Des Moines Water Works. This funding agreement is revised annually to reflect current costs.
