ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The City's Geographic Information System (GIS) is a complex computer generated mapping system that integrates graphics with multiple databases that display the resulting objects or areas as a map of the City.  Geographic characteristics of the City along with thematic overlays are integrated to provide utility, topography, building, and administrative information regarding property and parcels in the City.

The ESRI products (ArcIMS, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, ArcGIS Publisher, Mapobjects, Developers Network (EDN), and ArcGIS Server) provide a suite of software products for building and deploying a complete Geographical Information System wherever it is needed to operate - on desktops, servers, and mobile platforms.

Maintenance agreements entitle the City of Des Moines to upgrade to newer versions of the product as they become available.  Also, they entitle the City to technical support for licensed products, technical how-to documents, on-line webcasts and demonstrations of new product releases.
