AGENDA HEADING:

 

Ordering construction of the following:  Sayers Park Water Service - Receiving bids, (2-26-08), and Setting date of hearing, (3-10-08).  (Construction Estimate - $32,000).

 

 

SYNOPSIS:

 

Recommend the City Council proceed with construction of the improvement and set dates to receive bids and hold a public hearing, as required by Iowa Code, utilizing the method of financing referenced below.  This project provides for the replacement of the existing two-inch water service to Sayers Park with a new four-inch water service.  The existing water service was found to be severely corroded and is undersized to serve both the wading pool and the bathroom facilities in the park.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

Amount:  $32,000 (City Engineer's Estimate)

 

Funding Source:  2007-2008 CIP, Page Park-13, Neighborhood Park Improvements, PKS137, G. O. Bonds

 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

 

The Engineering Department has prepared plans, specifications, form of contract documents, and City Engineer’s estimate for the construction of the Sayers Park Water Service, 11-2008-004.  The improvement includes replacement of the existing 2” water service with a new 4” water service including driveway removal and replacement, excavation, backfill, site restoration, sodding, plumbing modifications in existing park building, removal and replacement of chain link fence and traffic control all in accordance with the contract documents including Plan File Nos. 487-110/113 at Sayers Park, 1327 Linden Lane, Des Moines, Iowa.

 

The estimated construction cost is $32,000.  The proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract documents are available for public inspection in the City Engineer's Office.
