Hearing on American Discovery
Trail Segment 3 from
SYNOPSIS:
This is a public hearing to
allow for public input on the American Discovery Trail Segment 3 from
FISCAL IMPACT:
Amount: $356,974.84 Construction Contract ($450,000 City Engineer's Estimate)
Funding Source: 2007-2008 CIP, Page Park-22, Recreation Trails, PKS045, various funding, being:
$272,895.07 - 80% of Division 1 construction cost of $341,118.84 from Federal STP Grant (Roll Call No. 01-2113 - $773,000 max total for trail Segments 1, 3, and 4); and $84,079.77 - City G.O. Bonds for 20% of Division 1 construction cost and 100% of Division 2 construction cost.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
On January 7, 2008, under Roll
Call No. 08-016, the City Council received and filed plans, specifications,
form of contract documents, and City Engineer's estimate for the construction
of the American Discovery Trail Segment 3 from
Sealed bids for said improvement were submitted by the following bidders:
- Sheets Excavating, Ltd.,
- OMG Midwest, Inc. d/b/a
- Elder Corporation,
- Grimes Asphalt & Paving Corp., Grimes, IA
- Reilly Construction Co., Inc.,
The bids, in accordance with a previously approved IDOT Agreement, were received and opened by IDOT on January 16, 2008. The attached tabulation of bids by the IDOT for said improvement be and is hereby received, and filed.
The City Engineer has determined that the lowest responsive, responsible bid for the construction of said improvement was submitted by Sheets Excavating, Ltd., in the amount of $356,974.84, and said bid should be accepted. The Finance Director has determined that funds are available for said improvement as stated above.
