AGENDA HEADING:
Approval
for submission of an application for eight (8) Section 8 Housing Vouchers to
the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
SYNOPSIS:
Recommend approval to submit to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) an application for eight (8) Section 8 Housing vouchers and authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute and implement the funding if awarded.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The Des Moines
Municipal Housing Agency (DMMHA) has received funding from HUD since March 25,
1969 for Section 8 rental assistance programs.
On December 17, 2007 by roll call #07-2348 the
Municipal Housing Governing Board approved submittal of an application for 59
Section 8 Housing vouchers. Since then,
HUD has notified the City that we are eligible to receive an additional eight
(8) Section 8 vouchers which will be needed to provide rental assistance for
the eligible residents at River Hills II,
The vouchers
will entitle DMMHA to HUD funding in the approximate amount of $41,568.
