Amount:  $256,929

Funding Source:  2007-2008 CIP, Page Storm-17, Twelfth Street Storm Sewer, STE076, Storm Water Utility Funds with a transfer of $256,929 from Page Sanitary –5, City Wide Sanitary Sewers, SAE054, Sanitary Sewer Funds.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The planned Wellmark Corporate Headquarters project has caused a change in the scope and schedule for the High Street Realignment project and the 12th Street Storm Sewer project.  The realignment of High Street between 10th and 14th Streets for the construction of the new Wellmark Corporate Headquarters requires that the utilities in the existing right of way be relocated prior to the July 1, 2008 start of construction on Wellmark’s parking garage.  The City has an existing combination sewer in this corridor that serves roof and surface drainage for parking facilities in the area.  This sewer must be abandoned and relocated to allow Wellmark to proceed with their schedule.  To remove this sewer from the combination system, the newly constructed storm sewer in 12th Street will be extended north across High Street and a new storm sewer will be placed on the north side of High Street to collect the drainage from Principal’s parking facilities and the future street alignment.  The extension of the storm sewers north on 12th Street and on the north side of High Street were planned for construction in 2009, but this schedule must be accelerated to comply with Wellmark’s construction schedule.  To meet Wellmark’s schedule, this change order with The Underground Company has been negotiated.  The Underground Company has agreed to an extension of the February 2007 contract unit prices for this work, which should result in savings to the City over 2008 construction prices.
